Work With Us

Rise is growing — and as we grow, we are looking for human beings who feel called to this work. Not just qualified teachers, but people who carry warmth, presence, and a genuine love for children and for the natural world. People who understand that a school is a living organism, and who want to be part of tending it.

If that is you — we would love to hear from you.

Kindergarten Teacher

Our kindergarten is a mixed-age sanctuary of rhythm, play, beauty, and nature. Each day unfolds through imaginative play, storytelling, songs, cooking, gardening, handwork, and time outdoors in the forest and river landscape that surrounds us.

We are looking for a teacher who brings presence, patience, and warmth — one who finds deep meaning in holding a space where young children are free to unfold at their own pace, and who walks alongside them with wisdom and care.

The Role

  • Create a warm, beautiful, and rhythmical classroom environment
  • Lead circle time, storytelling, songs, and seasonal celebrations
  • Guide children through daily practical activities: cooking, gardening, handwork
  • Spend meaningful time outdoors with children in all weather
  • Build trusting relationships with parents, co-teacher, and colleagues
  • Participate actively in faculty life and ongoing professional development

What We Offer

  • A warm, collegial school community
  • Ongoing mentorship and pedagogical support
  • Support for continued teacher education and conferences
  • Competitive salary and benefits to be discussed

To apply: send a letter of interest, CV, and references to:

Class Teacher. Grades 3rd-4th

We are seeking a grades-trained Waldorf teacher who brings both experience and heart — someone who enjoys forming meaningful relationships with children, colleagues, and families, and who feels at home in the natural world.

We value teachers who approach their work with warmth, creativity, and a love for nature — who bring children into the outdoor world as a natural extension of learning, and who see teaching not as a job but as a calling.

What We Offer

  • Ongoing mentorship and pedagogical support
  • Support for teacher education and conferences
  • Competitive salary and benefits to be discussed in person

Class Teacher. Grades 7th-8th

We are seeking a grades-trained Waldorf teacher ready to meet young people at the threshold of adolescence — someone who brings intellectual depth, warmth, and the inner steadiness that 7th and 8th graders both test and need. Someone who finds meaning in holding a class through one of the most vivid and demanding passages of childhood.

We value teachers who love this age: who can be rigorous and warm in equal measure, who bring history, biography, chemistry, and literature alive through genuine presence, and who see the questions adolescents are asking — about the world and about themselves — as the very heart of their mission in this school.

What We Offer

  • A warm, collegial school community
  • Ongoing mentorship and pedagogical support
  • Support for continued teacher education and conferences
  • Competitive salary and benefits to be discussed

Volunteering

There is a place for you here even if you are not a teacher.

We welcome volunteers from educational backgrounds, or simply with a great love for children and a curiosity about Waldorf education. Whether you have grown up immersed in this pedagogy or are discovering it for the first time, your energy, your presence, and your willingness to show up matter deeply to us.

Come for a full school term. Experience Costa Rica not as a tourist, but as a participant in something living and meaningful. Work alongside our teachers, walk the land, share in the rhythm of the school day and bring whatever gifts you carry.
